Why doesnt current decrease through a circuit with components?

A component causes a voltage drop, this means the current ping that component will end up with less energy or the potential difference between the current after that component and the other terminal is less so there should be a decrease in current (as current is directly related to voltage), so why doesnt that happen in say a series circuit?
