What movie was that about the....?

I was on China Airlines and there was this Japanese movie about a doctor i think who learned his wife had terminal cancer. So before she died he wrote a bunch of funny letters to her and it kept her alive for 5 more years. I think it was a true story. What was this movie called? I really wanted to watch it. Thanks!
