Is USA scary place to live ?

I never went to place where guns are legal. It is scary, I could get shot and killed easily. I could get killed from burglars, or mafia. I am not mafia. Is USA like Carlito's way, King of New York, Training Day, Menace II Society. I would see mafia`s gun fight often ? USA looks nice place, but it might bebetter to live at place where it is very safe.
